British artist Liam Gillick and Pringle of Scotland design director Alistair Carr have created an exciting accessories and knitwear capsule collection labelled ‘liamgillickforpringleofscotland’.
The collection takes its starting point from a series of abstract colour block permutations by the artist, incorporating contrasting colours from a bright palette offset with black and grey.
As a preview of the collaboration and on request of Pringle Design director Alistair Carr, Gillick created an intervention on runway benches for Pringle’s womens show at London Fashion Week on September 19th 2011. The piece is made up of text fragments from his yet unpublished book
‘Construction of One’.
The Liam Gillick collection launched globally with a unique pop up store in the heart of the Miami Design District during Art Basel in November 2011. The Miami store was located in the mosaic building and run in partnership with renowned luxury destination the Webster, Miami. Alongside the Pringle project Galerie Eva Presenhuber, Zurich and Casey Kaplan, New York presented a major retail installation by the artist. In April 2012, the project travelled to Milan where the collection was launched in 10 Corso Como during Salone Del Mobile.
