From Hawick to Hollywood

The Women Who Wore Pringle

Pringle of Scotland was founded in Hawick, the birthplace of the Scottish knitwear industry, in 1815.

The BA Fashion History and Theory students of the internationally renowned fashion college Central Saint Martins have worked with the curator of the Borders Textile Towerhouse museum on a special exhibition entitled 'From Hawick to Hollywood the Women Who Wore Pringle'. The exhibition tells the story of the relationship between Pringle of Scotland and the women, both locally and internationally, who wore the brand in the 1950s and 1960s. This short film explores the exhibition and introduces Wallace Shaw, one of our previous Design Directors, who shares his memories of life at Pringle during the glamour and excitement of the 1960s.
